Intermediate Fixed Income

Our Intermediate Fixed Income strategy seeks to achieve returns in excess of the Bloomberg Barclays U.S. Intermediate Government/Credit Bond Index on a total return basis over a complete market cycle. Interest rate sensitivity is controlled to a targeted range of +/- 25% of the benchmark. The strategy's typical investments include, but are not limited to, corporate bonds, U.S. government bonds, and mortgage-backed securities.

The Intermediate investment process consists of monitoring yields across fixed income sectors, analyzing credit risk (quality upgrades/downgrades) for corporates/mortgages/asset-backed, and prepayment risk for mortgages/asset-backed securities. Investments are increased in those areas with the most attractive yields and spreads relative to our appraisal of risk.

Our research team performs extensive bottom-up research on companies and industries focusing on qualitative factors such as restructuring, management strength, shareholder orientation, and the ability to capitalize on improving industry fundamentals.
